Land clearing contractor in High Springs, FL

Land Clearing Contractor in High Springs, FL

Apex Earthworks is the land clearing contractor commercial developers, contractors, and large property owners in High Springs and Alachua County call for site prep, grading, and drainage work that holds up through Florida's rainy season.

Local land clearing and site work

A Land Clearing Contractor Built for the High Springs Corridor

High Springs sits at the crossroads of US-441 and US-27, a town built around rail history and now growing with new commercial and agricultural development along CR-236 and CR-138. As a land clearing contractor working this corridor, Apex Earthworks helps developers, contractors, and large property owners open up raw ground and get it ready for grading, access roads, or new construction.

Whether the project is a commercial pad near the historic downtown district or a private parcel off County Road 340 toward Poe Springs, our approach starts the same way: walk the site, plan around drainage, and clear only what the project actually needs. We work with dense palmetto stands, hardwood hammocks, and mixed pine growth typical of this area, leaving usable land instead of a stripped lot.

Property owners near the Santa Fe River and the karst terrain surrounding it also rely on us for grading and drainage planning once clearing is done, since standing water and uneven ground are common challenges in this part of Alachua County.

Ground conditions in High Springs

Terrain, Soil, and Drainage Considerations

High Springs sits on karst limestone with a high water table, which changes how a driveway or access road needs to be built compared to flatter, drier sites farther inland. Our crews plan for these conditions before the first pass of equipment touches the ground.

  • Karst limestone bedrock and sinkhole-prone pockets common near the Santa Fe River and Ichetucknee corridor that call for careful equipment staging
  • High seasonal water tables that shape how we clear and grade low-lying parcels
  • Dense palmetto and hardwood hammock growth typical of land clearing projects across Alachua County
  • Sandy soils along CR-236 and CR-138 that need proper compaction once clearing wraps up
  • Frequent heavy rainfall that makes drainage planning part of every clearing project, not an afterthought
  • Mixed pine and oak stands on larger acreage parcels well suited to forestry mulching before full clearing begins

Services available in High Springs

Land Clearing and Site Preparation Services

Apex Earthworks brings the same heavy equipment and crew experience to every High Springs project, whether it's a multi-acre commercial lot off US-441, a ranch corridor along CR-236, or an older structure that has to come down before new work begins. Below are the five core services we provide to contractors, developers, and large property owners throughout the area.

Land Clearing Across High Springs and Alachua County

From commercial lots near the US-441 and US-27 crossroads to estate and acreage parcels off County Road 340, we clear what the project needs and leave the rest standing. That includes brush and underbrush clearing in dense palmetto stands and right-of-way corridors for utilities and roadways crossing Alachua County.

Site Preparation for High Springs Building Sites

Karst limestone and a high water table make ground prep here less forgiving than on drier inland sites. Our site preparation covers excavation, grading, drainage, and culverts, so building pads and parcels near the Santa Fe River shed water properly and stay stable once construction starts.

Forestry Mulching Near the Santa Fe River and Poe Springs

Mixed pine, oak, and palmetto growth on larger High Springs parcels is well suited to single-pass forestry mulching. Trees and brush are ground in place into a protective layer, with no hauling or burning, which helps hold sandy soil in place on land that drains toward the river.

Commercial Driveway Installation and Access Roads in High Springs

We build commercial and estate driveways and access roads on a heavy-duty sub-base, with driveway grading and compaction sized for trucks and equipment. On the loose, sandy ground common along CR-236 and CR-138, that prep work is what keeps a gravel drive from rutting after the first summer storms.

Structural Demolition for High Springs Properties

When an old commercial building, agricultural barn, or larger residential structure stands in the way of new plans, we take it down in a controlled sequence. Foundations come out, debris is hauled off, and the site is left in build-ready condition for the next phase.

How a project comes together

Our Process for High Springs Projects

Every job starts with a real look at the property, not a guess from a satellite photo. Here's what that looks like from first contact to final grade.

  1. Site Visit and Assessment

We walk the property with you, noting elevation changes, drainage patterns, and vegetation density before quoting any work.

    STEP 01
  2. Planning and Permitting

We plan the clearing, grading, and drainage work the property needs, coordinating with local permitting requirements before equipment arrives.

    STEP 02
  3. Clearing, Grading, and Site Prep

Crews clear vegetation, grade the site, and prep it for whatever comes next, whether that's an access road, a building pad, or continued agricultural use.

    STEP 03
  4. Final Walkthrough

We walk the finished site with you, confirm drainage is working as intended, and address any remaining details before the crew leaves.

    STEP 04

Why High Springs property owners choose Apex

A Land Clearing Contractor That Knows High Springs Ground

High Springs presents its own mix of limestone terrain, tight rural roads, and seasonal flooding, and property owners here need a contractor who has actually worked the ground before.

Local Terrain Experience

We've cleared land and built access roads across the karst and hardwood terrain typical of Alachua County, so we know how to plan around sinkholes, water tables, and unstable soil pockets.

Equipment for the Job Size

Our fleet handles everything from acreage clearing to full commercial site prep, so there's no waiting on subcontractors or rented machinery.

Straightforward Communication

Mike and the crew give property owners a clear scope, a real timeline, and honest updates if ground conditions change the plan mid-project.

It was guessed that a wind shear came through and uprooted 3 oaks, one went into our garage. After seeing his, Mike’s videos on Facebook, I decided to reach out. So, so glad I did, even impressed the husband!! Mike and crew were phenomenal! Now we do not have to worry about any trees damaging the house or garage.

Mike and his crew from Apex Earthworks were fantastic. I had put off a land clearing job ever since our last two hurricanes and my property and pastures were a mess. Much more debris than what I could handle myself. Apex came in with a Forestry Mulcher for three days and the rest is history. The entire property has been restored to pre-hurricane standards. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Apex Earthworks to anyone needing land clearing.

I am doing a lot split and was taking estimates for land clearing and a culvert. Mike came out and was very informative about everything that is involved (since I don't know anything about land clearing or culverts, I've never been thru this process before) in clearing the land of pine trees and where the best placement for the culvert would be. Mike texted and called over a two week period of time to follow up with any questions that I may of had. I was finally able to sit down and go over the estimates this past Friday (7/17/26) with the person who will be placing a manufactured home on the lot.... we scoured over the estimates and it came down to 2 contractors.... (Apex Earthworks and one other)...we really liked both of them. They were comparable in price and the scope of work. It came down to who could do the work as soon as possible. Even tho we decided to go with a different company.... I APPRECIATE everything that Mike did to accommodate our needs. His company was highly recommend.... and I see why... he educates the customer, he is honest, and very "customer" oriented. I appreciated that Mike always took time to answer my questions. He was awesome. Even tho the land clearing job didn't work out.... I definitely will be contacting him in the future for an estimate on the driveway. If you are looking for someone that is honest, reliable and his price is good.... Give Mike at Apex Earthworks a call. I look forward to possibly using your in the future for jobs. Thank you Mike!

Mike and his crew were referred to me by a current contractor work at my home. Mike showed up with a great disposition and a firm handshake. He handled all of my grading and backfill needs, on time and on budget. I later reached out to Mike and inquired about my driveway ideas. Mike met with me and we discussed all the options available to me. Keeping my future plans in mind Mike was able to help design the perfect functioning driveway. To say we are pleased would be an understatement, My wife and I love it ! We couldn’t be happier. In closing I would recommend Apex Mulching and Land Management to anyone. Like everyone cost conscious these days, it was a relief knowing Mike was able to complete the job on budget. Thanks again Mike !

Wow. Mike and his crew got after it. We found APEX because my wife caught one of their videos online. We recently moved into our forever home and the front yard was a train wreck. For whatever reason previous owners put a fence and black top dead center of the front yard. When you tell people that your front yard looks like Hell, and they overwhelmingly agree with you, you know it’s hot garbage. Mike and his guys removed the fence, without damaging it, broke up the blacktop, hauled it off, ground down some stumps, leveled the yard, raked out a ridiculous amount of roots and root vines, hauled in (and leveled) several trucks of top soil, and even seeded the ground. Now we’ll see how bad my grass game is. Already plan to use them again to clear the back of our property in the fall. You won’t find a better, more down to earth (pun intended), or more fair priced, crew. If you’re trying to decide to go with them, or another company, watch the videos.
